Securing the Right EHCP Placement
Navigated a complex local authority disagreement, resulting in a conceded tribunal case and the child being placed in a suitable setting after over 4 years of waiting for a specialist placement and over 60 negative consultation responses.
Success at School Meeting
Supported a family during a school meeting to push the setting to speed up evidence gathering processes for an EHCP request after significant delays in completing cycles of assess, plan, do, review (APDR). Through challenge and highlighting the effect of the delays, the school and family were able to start to work together to gather evidence in a timely manner and the school obtained reports from external professionals to support. The EHCP request was submitted the following term and the child has now gained an EHCP.
Effective Mediation Outcome
Represented a family during mediation between the local authority for a refusal to assess decision. The decision was quickly overturned by the local authority through demonstrating how the child clearly met the two part test. The child later went on to have an EHCP issued and was granted a place in a SEN school.
